Children’s
Ministry At Highlands Christian Church, we
understand that one of our most important responsibilities is to teach
children about the important stories of the Bible in fun and exciting
ways. We also want them to learn that
the church is a place where they will be cared for, affirmed and accepted. Nursery
Care (Ages
newborn to 3 years) What better place to start teaching children that
the church is a place of fun and caring than in the nursery. The nursery is open from 9:30 Sunday
morning until the close of worship and is always staffed with two experienced
childcare workers. Parents are
provided with pagers in case they need to be contacted. Preschool
Sunday School (Ages
3 to 5 years) For children from ages 3-5, our
Sunday school for preschoolers begins at 9:45 in the Preschool Room in the
West Wing of the church. Our Preschool
class features fun activities and teachers who are committed to imparting the
simplest and most important lessons of Christian faith. ‘Links’
Sunday School (Grades
Kindergarten-6th grade) In this exciting workshop style
Sunday School, we teach the same Bible story for several weeks but each week
we involve the children in very different activities. One week they will be making unleavened
bread in the kitchen as they learn about the Last Supper and the next week
they may get into costume and produce a videotaped recreation of this
story. Our goal is for the children to
have fun while they learn these stories.
Arts, crafts, games, plays, computers, music and treasure hunts are
some of the exciting ways we help our children to learn the important lessons
of our faith. Children’s
Church Most of the children 4 years
through third grade attend the first 15 minutes of worship with their
parents, and then leave for Children’s Church after the anthem has been
sung. In Children’s Church they will
hear a Bible story, engage in a creative activity and enjoy a snack.

Youth Ministry
Our ministry to youth is
all about making a positive difference in the lives of our young people. We want to help our youth to develop a
strong faith that can be a source of encouragement and strength throughout
their lives. We want to show them that
they can make a difference in the world and help them to develop strong
friendships through fun activities, Bible study, and prayer. Our Christian Youth Fellowship (CYF) is for grades
9-12. CYF meets for a time of
discussion and study every Sunday morning at 9:45 in the east wing of the
church. CYF also meets each Sunday
afternoon for games, conversation, and study (Check the church bulletin or
newsletter for times, or call the church office at 214.348.2805) Our Chi Rho group is for youth in grades 6-8. Like the CYF, this group meets on Sunday
morning at 9:45 in the east wing of the church for discussion and study and
they have their own meeting on Sunday afternoons with their own activities
and Bible study.
